RICHARD LONG - KAROO HIGHVELD
Richard Long: Karoo Highveld, 2011 comprised installation works, photographic pieces, fingerprint drawings and a site specific mural mud painting made on the wall of the National Gallery of Cape Town.
Long is associated with the genres of Land Art and Minimalism, and his work is deeply rooted in the act of walking. Long has “made walks” all around the world, in each instance leaving a trace of his presence or arranging natural elements directly in the landscape during his walks. The exhibition was the first showing of the British artist Richard Long in South Africa, and the first on the African continent.
